Tharx Concept by tiffa Tharx Concept by tiffa
So tired of working on this image. However, I've learned a lot with some constructive feedback. This is based on an earlier sketch of this guy: [link]

The scene is from chapter 7-8 in my novel. The first 4 chapters can be found in here: [link]

I'm working on a few images as concept work for my novel D= we're doing environments next in the class, so I get to kill 2 birds with one stone by working on a setting from this book, too. xP

This is done purely in Photoshop, although I've lost count of how many hours was put into it. Quite a few anyway >_> still learning digital painting techniques so I'm horribly slow right now.

how much time you spend on it? I usually spend about 3-4 days, about 5 hours each day on a really good piece :\

Ah I see =D That sounds about right actually, or so. What I've noticed is that with time, certain process, ligc and technique start sinking in. What ends up happening if you go over that limit by a lot, it's because you had to go back and rework many things, or redo major elements. I wouldn't stress it like I did/do (not so much now). As you long as you're trying your hardest, and not going by the motions, you'll improve in ability and speed. From my own experience, the paintings I've been really critical with and really put forth effort, were the ones that pushed me closer to my next milestone, even though they literally took a week at times.
